Welcome to the ESD Dental Journal

This is the first post on our journal, so it is worth saying plainly what it is for.

ESD — e-smyle:Design Dental Clinic sits on the ground floor of Surajdeep Complex, B Block, 1-Jopling Road, near Aaj Press, in the middle of Lucknow. Most of the people who walk in have already read something about their problem before they arrive, and a fair amount of it was wrong. This journal is our attempt to fix that for the questions we answer most often at the chair.

What we will write about

Three kinds of post, and we will keep them separate so you always know which one you are reading.

• Blog — short, practical answers to the questions patients actually ask. Bleeding gums, a sensitive tooth, a child's first visit, whether a gap at the back matters.
• Articles — longer explainers when a decision deserves one. Aligners against braces, whether you are a candidate for an implant, what a root canal really involves.
• News — oral-health stories from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh and India, reported by other people, summarised here with a link to the original. We will never dress someone else's news up as our own.

What we will not do

We will not publish fees on this journal. Every mouth is different, and a number written on a webpage months ago is not a quote — it is a guess that makes you feel misled at the counter. Ask us at the consultation and you get a written plan with the actual cost of your actual case.

We will not promise outcomes. Treatments have ranges, not guarantees, and a clinic that tells you otherwise is selling rather than treating.

And we will not use other patients' faces as decoration. Where you see a photograph on this journal it is either our own clinic or a clearly stock image — never someone's real before-and-after passed off as a typical result.

Who writes it

Posts are written by the clinical team at ESD and published under the clinic's name. Our dentists are Dr. Chandra Prakash and Dr. Shubham Tiwari, and the treatments we describe are the ones we actually provide — implants, full mouth rehabilitation, root canal treatment, braces and clear aligners, cosmetic dentistry, paediatric and gum care among them.

One request

Nothing here is a diagnosis. An article can tell you what bleeding gums usually mean; it cannot tell you what yours mean. If something in your mouth has changed and stayed changed for more than a week or two, that is worth twenty minutes in a chair — here or anywhere else.
